Origins
Founded in Berlin by Franz Schneeweiß and Barney Riley, who met while running separate music projects, DELTAWELLE later expanded through various collaborations. Their second album, “Wir sind Staub im Kosmos,” was recorded both in their rehearsal space in Leipzig and at Berlin’s Shimmerdown Studios. The record showcases the band’s ongoing exploration of modern New Wave aesthetics, balancing poetic inspiration with a grounded, realistic approach to songwriting.
Musically, DELTAWELLE’s sound evokes the spirit of the Neue Deutsche Welle, as if taking a nocturnal stroll through the subconscious – a fusion of danceable synth rhythms and shimmering melancholy. The Berlin-based band skillfully merges introspective lyricism with energetic electronics, bridging the gap between melancholy and motion.
